Preaching
"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." 1 Corinthians 1:18
Preaching is primary at Southside Baptist Church. Sunday Morning, Sunday Night Wednesday Night, Revival Services or Missions Conference, you will hear a Biblically-based message that expounds the Scripture and challenges the listener. Pastor Walters, of course, is our primary preacher, but we are blessed to be able to hear men of God from around the country and from our own congregation on a regular basis. Southside is an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church that believes
a solid youth ministry should not be built around people and personalities,
but around the "Eternal Word of God". Our focus is to
train today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders. One of the most
exciting aspects of our teen ministry is "one on one"
personal soul winning. Another is our active schedule. We believe
that having our youth together on a regular basis helps them build
"real" friendships that last a lifetime and encourages
them to stand strong when confronted with the things of this world.
Each year our group has the chance to participate in camps, conferences,
mission trips, and many other ministerial functions. Our philosophy
is simple; God said it, that settles it. Remember that Jesus loves
you enough to die for you and to take away your sin. Are you willing
to give up your life of sin and allow him to give you eternal
life? Only you can make that decision.
Radio Ministry
In December of 2004, the Lord gave us a new ministry. WRHJ is
a low-power FM radio station that reaches Rock Hill 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week. We praise the Lord for this exciting outreach
which allows us to share the gospel with our community as well
as enjoy music and preaching that encourages believers throughout
the week.
Nearly all of our programming comes from the Fundamental
Broadcasting Network, which provides an excellent balance
of Christ-honoring music and soul-stirring preaching all day and
all night. Pastor Walters also has a morning broadcast that you
can also hear online.
The Staple Club
Although they are - and have been - a "staple" at
Southside Baptist Church for many years, our Seniors group has
aquired the name "The Staple Club" as a result of their
weekly gathering around the collating, stapling and cutting machines
in our literature ministry. These faithful servants of the Lord
enjoy a time of fellowship as they prepare gospel literature to
be used around the world.
Each Sunday Morning they meet in the Neal Daniel Bible Study Class for Sunday School, taught by Pastor Walters. In addition, they enjoy regular fellowships, trips and special meals together. We thank the Lord for their wisdom, influence and example to the rest of the congregation.
Deaf Ministry
Mrs. Christine Walters, our pastor's wife, began the deaf ministry
at Southside many years ago. The deaf enjoy their own Sunday School
Classes and Wednesday night Bible Studies. All of our Sunday Services
are interpreted for the hearing impaired. Regular activities for
the deaf provide great opportunities for fellowship and new experiences.
The Deaf ministry also provides a place of service for many hearing
members at Southside. Mrs. Walters teaches a basic sign language
class which provides the first step for those who are interested
in working with the deaf.
Patch the Pirate Club
Boys and girls learn how to build Christian character every Wednesday
night. This musical based children's ministry will help your child
memorize scripture and develop godly habits.
