Welcome to Southside

Dear Friends,

Exceeding. One of the words found in the third chapter of Paul's letter to the church in Ephesus, it is both a verb and an adjective and expresses much of what we strive to achieve at Southside Baptist Church . Because we are continually pressing towards the mark of the prize of the high calling of our Lord Jesus Christ, we desire excellence in our witnessing, singing, teaching, fellowship, preaching, and most of all, our worship.

In the world around us today, with its transitory values and crumbling morals we continue to believe that the Bible is still applicable. The expression, "ask for the Old Paths," as spoken by the prophet Jeremiah reflects our heart to live the commandments and principles of Scripture in a world where these have largely been discarded as irrelevant. It defines the essence of our desire as a church to preach Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world; to serve, in our dress, our attitudes and our entertainments as shining lights to an increasingly dark culture; to train our children and teens to lead exemplary lives as Christians; and most of all to love the Lord with all our hearts.

Every facet of our ministry is built around the theme that our Lord is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. We believe God was true to His word when He said, I change not and this has manifested itself through the preservation of His Word in the form of our King James Bible, which we use exclusively in every English service and class.

Fellowship is a vital part of our life as a church! We are intertwined by a common desire to serve the Lord. Our time together is a wonderful way to build each other up and bear one another's burdens.  You will discover that  Southside is a very friendly church .

One aspect of both our worship as well as our praise to our Lord is our music. Each time we meet our services include many selections, either from our hymnals or specials by the soloist or groups and  our excellent choir. We are very careful to use only selections that fit a conservative, Bible-based philosophy.

We are ever mindful of the great responsibility God's people have to carry the gospel to our neighborhood, city and the world. Our missionaries carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to the four corners of the  earth. They are there to establish Bible-believing Independent Baptist churches. We support them through Faith Promise Missions.

WELCOME: THE BILL ABBOTT FAMILY
I would like for the Southside Baptist Family to give Evangelist Bill Abbott and his family a royal welcome. He served as the Assistant Pastor for almost 7-years before entering into full time evangelism. While serving at Southside Baptist Church the Lord greatly used him and the spiritual effects is still felt today. We love Brother Billy and expect the Lord to greatly use him today as he preaches the Word of God in the Morning Worship Service as well as the Family Christmas Fellowship and Banquet.

MARANATHA! THE LORD IS COME
DECEMBER 18, 6PM
As the Southside Baptist Choir practices for the presentation of the cantata I am getting more and more excited about seeing and hearing it. Please mark your calendar for Sunday evening, December 18 at 6pm for the presentation of Maranatha! The Lord is Come. The choir and actors are working very hard to present the story of Christ first coming and then His second coming to take His children home to Heaven. There is a strong salvation message in this cantata so bring your lost loved ones so they can hear the truth and be saved. You and your friends should come early in order to get a seat.

Ps: We have printed some fliers promoting the Cantata. Be sure to take some that you can use to invite your family and friends to attend with you. Also we would like for you to take some fliers with you to give out to neighbors and friends.
